Job Description

This new role is responsible for leading self-service reporting initiatives, championing a data-driven culture, and acting as a data champion for the People & Property department at Softcat, a leading UK IT infrastructure provider. The role involves delivering analytics, ensuring data integrity, and translating people data into actionable insights to support workforce planning and decision-making.

Job Responsibility

  • Leading self-service reporting initiatives, championing a data-driven culture across the organisation and acting as a data champion for the People & Property department
  • Delivering clear analytics and dashboards to support decision-making and workforce planning, translating complex people data into actionable insights across the People & Property department, and ensuring business teams have access to accurate, timely, and actionable insights aligned with enterprise data standards
  • Ensuring data integrity and compliance in all people-related activities, providing expert interpretation and advice, while sitting within the People & Property department to enable better decision-making
  • Assisting other members of the department in creating their own reports and improving data literacy
  • Champion Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Serve as the primary advocate for data literacy and adoption within the People & Property department

  • Work closely with business users to understand their reporting needs and convert them into meaningful, insightful, and easy-to-use visualisations

Requirements

  • Proven experience with HRIS (e.g., Oracle HCM), HR data management, and people analytics platform or equivalent enterprise visualisation/reporting tools such as Power BI
  • Understanding of HR processes, employment law, and data privacy, including GDPR compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex HR data into actionable insights that drive business decisions and strategic priorities
  • Proficiency in the native Oracle reporting toolsets and experience in designing impactful reports and dashboards
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven findings to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making at all levels
  • Experience in HR reporting, workforce analytics, or a similar HR data role, with a track record of delivering insights that inform workforce planning, talent management, and organisational effectiveness
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, and training skills, including the ability to lead knowledge-sharing sessions and promote data literacy within HR teams
  • Analytical and curious mindset with attention to detail, able to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in workforce data and recommend evidence-based actions
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, data governance, and compliance with employment laws and internal policies

  • Configure and maintain Compensation + HCM components that enable comp outcomes (plans, eligibility rules, guidelines, budgets, comp change templates, condition rules, validations, notifications, and approval routing)
  • Partner with Total Rewards/Comp, HRBPs, Payroll, and Finance to translate comp policy and cycle requirements into Workday configuration and repeatable runbooks
  • Support HCM processes (job changes, promotions, transfers, location/grade changes, position management impacts, supervisory org alignment)
  • Triage and resolve issues across Compensation and HCM: analyze, identify root cause, implement configuration fixes, and coordinate testing/deployments with proper change controls
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards for comp and core worker data (cycle progress, budget utilization, comp audits, headcount/worker attribute validation, exception reporting)
  • Support cycle readiness and release management (regression testing, change impact assessments, tenant configuration reviews, and end-user communications/training)
  • Maintain documentation and controls (configuration specs, SOPs, knowledge articles, cycle runbooks) to ensure continuity, auditability, and data integrity
