Discover Sofitel Sydney Wentworth – Where Heritage Meets Modern Luxury Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, Sydney’s first international five-star hotel, is an icon of Australian hospitality and a landmark of culture and creativity in the heart of the city. The Hotel holds a special place in Sydney’s story, with a rich heritage that continues to shape its character and reputation both locally and internationally. As a People & Culture Advisor, you’ll partner closely with leaders across a diverse portfolio of departments to help shape an engaged, high-performing, and service-driven culture. Working at the heart of the Hotel, you’ll bring practical, solutions-focused HR expertise that supports both day-to-day operations and longer-term people strategies. This is a hands-on advisory role where no two days are the same — and where your work directly influences both employee experience and guest excellence.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide practical HR advice across employee relations, performance, and workforce planning, helping leaders translate strategy into meaningful team outcomes
  • Support recruitment and onboarding, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for new team members
  • Contribute to performance and engagement initiatives, helping our leaders build capability, strengthen development conversations, and foster a culture of service excellence
  • Work with the wider People & Culture team, assisting with employee relations, compliance, and workplace health and safety processes, ensuring fair and consistent practices across the business
  • Assist with reporting and HR systems maintenance, supporting accurate data and insights to inform decision-making

Requirements

  • Experience in a HR Advisory or senior HR Coordinator role, supporting the end-to-end employee lifecycle within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong capability in employee relations, including performance management, investigations, and disciplinary processes
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment with competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence managing sensitive conversations and resolving conflict constructively
  • Working knowledge of workplace health and safety processes, supporting safe and compliant workplaces
  • Strong technical aptitude and confidence quickly learning new HR systems and tools

Nice to have

  • Experience in injury management processes (workers compensation and return-to-work) desirable
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field (preferred)

What we offer

  • Global discounts on accommodation, dining, bars and more across 100+ Accor hotels and partner venues worldwide
  • Generous leave entitlements, including birthday leave and up to 12 weeks parental leave
  • 30% team member dining discount across our signature venues: Tilda, Bar Tilda, Delta Rue and Wentworth Bar
  • Career development opportunities within a globally recognised luxury hospitality brand
  • Ongoing learning and development, working alongside industry leaders
  • Onsite perks including complimentary dry cleaning, $2 barista-made coffee, a $5 staff lunch buffet, and discounted city parking
  • A complimentary hotel stay package to celebrate your work anniversary
  • Free 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Program for confidential wellbeing support
