Job Description

Peer tutors are integral members of the Academic Success Centre team at Keyano College. In a collaborative environment, they work alongside staff and fellow peer tutors to provide valuable support to Keyano College students. Peer tutors are current students who have excelled in the subjects they tutor and are committed to sharing their knowledge to help others achieve similar academic success. Additionally, they assist in promoting effective study skills and techniques. Peer tutors contribute to the success, progression, and retention of students in credit programs by offering both one-on-one and group tutoring sessions. The Peer Tutor Program facilitates connections between students and their peers, who possess expertise in various courses or academic programs. These tutors have successfully completed the relevant coursework and are able to clearly explain course concepts, providing supportive and effective tutoring assistance. Peer tutors also assist with educational technology and will support students with computer programs such as Keyanomail, Moodle, Microsoft 365 (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams), textbook publisher platforms (e.g., TopHat, Pearson, McGraw-Hill), and other digital resources such as PDFs and eBooks.
