Job Description:

Are you passionate about using your own recovery journey to help support others? Our treatment center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist to provide guidance, encouragement and hope to individuals on their path to recovery. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will draw from your own lived experience to build meaning connections, help clients navigate challenges, and empower them to achieve their personal goals.

Job Responsibility:

Provide one-on-one support to clients recovering from substance use disorder
Promote self-advocacy by assisting recovering persons to have their voices fully heard
Assist in the creation and implementation of social activities and help create a positive environment
Mentor individuals by offering guidance and support in their personal development
Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress
Participate in team meetings to discuss client needs, progress, and strategies

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED certificate
Peer Support Specialist certification with the State of Alaska Commissioner’s office
Ability to mentor individuals effectively while fostering a supportive environment
Knowledge of behavioral health systems and resources that are available for clients
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations
A compassionate approach towards helping others navigate their challenges
