Job Description:

As our Peer Specialist, you will provide invaluable support, encouragement, and guidance to individuals drawing upon your own lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges. Experience in coping with life events successfully despite having a mental health challenge.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support, encouragement, and guidance to individuals drawing upon your own lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges
  • Help individuals in setting and achieving their own goals
  • Maintain high standards of personal conduct
  • Teach and role model the value of every individual’s recovery experience
  • Conduct self in a manner that fosters one's own recovery
  • Share with consumers and colleagues personal recovery stories from mental health challenges
  • Be able to identify and describe the supports that promote recovery
  • Respect the confidentiality, rights, and dignity of the individuals served at all times

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Must have experience with their own personal mental health challenges

Nice to have:

Experience as a Peer Support Specialist or working in a Psychiatric or Human Services setting
