Peer Mentors provide one-to-one short term emotional and practical support to people with mental health challenges in Camden, to help them regain their confidence and independence. This opportunity is for people to use their lived experience of mental health problems to help create a short term, supportive and understanding relationship with someone who requires support in the community.
Job Responsibility:
Provide one-to-one short term emotional and practical support to people with mental health challenges
Work 1:1 with mentee to identify & set short term realistic goals
Work with mentee over 10 sessions to help them achieve goals, maximum 20 weeks
Equip mentee with tools and skills needed to continue longer term
Refer mentees to other services in the local area, if appropriate
Provide emotional and practical support as needed
Empower mentee to take an active part in their life choices
Requirements:
Minimum commitment of 3 hours per week
Must be over 18 years old
Must be living in the UK
Must be able to volunteer Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00
Must undertake a DBS check
Must provide contact details for a minimum of two referees
Lived experience of mental health problems is implied for the role
