Master's Degree in Related Discipline
CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
Speech Language Pathologist License in NM W/in 30 days
Cert Clin Competence ASLHA or Clin Fellowship
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people
Med Haz: Mod exposure to chemicals/dangerous equip/materials
May be credentialed by UNMH Credentialing Committee
Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required

Job Responsibility

Provide quality diagnostic and therapeutic care to individuals who have or are suspected of having communication, swallowing, feeding or cognitive disorders
PATIENT CARE - Diagnose, evaluate, educate and provide treatment to individuals who have or are suspected of having dysphagia
PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and treat patients with cognitive-communicative disorders resulting from traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury
PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and treat patients with speech and language disorders
PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and treat patients with tracheostomy tubes and augmentation communication devices
PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and treat patients with pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders
PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and treat ENT patients
SUPERVISION - Supervise graduate students, clinical fellows, and/or paraprofessionals as delegated
EDUCATION - Provide education and training to hospital personnel as well as outside and rural communities as requested
CONSULTATION - Consult with medical staff on patient care

Requirements

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
Current Nebraska license to practice as an SLP
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through ASHA
Must meet licensure and credentialing requirements as defined by the state of Nebraska
Ability to work in an active environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
High level of discretion and judgment
Detail-oriented and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential

Job Responsibility

Conduct speech, language, and communication evaluations using standardized tools
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Provide direct therapy services to pediatric clients in a clinic setting
Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided
Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Participate in team meetings and clinical consultations
Address client and family concerns with professionalism and empathy
Uphold ethical standards and best practices in line with ASHA guidelines
Ensure quality of care consistent with Behaven Kids policies, procedures, and relevant accrediting bodies

Requirements

Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
Be licensed by the Speech and Hearing Services Licensure Board to conduct speech-language assessments and therapy
Possess a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) or who will be eligible for certification within one year of employment
Must be able to pass a background check

Job Responsibility

Complete assessment and therapy plan following the therapy evaluation including goals for participant
Complete and provide a therapy evaluation report for each participant showing a need for therapy due to a functional limitation, a loss or delay of skill, or both prior to beginning therapy sessions
Complete and provide a therapy evaluation report establishing that the participant will benefit and demonstrate progress as a result of the therapy services prior to beginning services
Discuss results and provide a copy of the evaluation and goals to the participant/parent or guardian as appropriate prior to beginning therapy sessions
Send a copy of the evaluation to the physician, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant that ordered the evaluation/therapy and obtain a signed plan of care
Complete individualized and effective therapy sessions with each participant on your caseload/schedule
Record data each therapy session and monitor progress weekly to determine progress or need to change goals
Complete bi-annual progress reports and annual evaluation reports and send a copy to the participant’s physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant and family
