Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospitalist looking for an experienced full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their dynamic Pediatric Hospitalist team, known as the CHIPS team. This full-time nocturnist position consists of a 14-hour shift (5p-7a) as the sole-provider in-house with physician back-up available. The schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays. The Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant serves as the overnight team in providing care for children on the inpatient floor during their hospitalization while under the supervision of and in collaboration with a licensed physician.
Job Responsibility
Accepts and admits children from outside hospitals and the in-house pediatric emergency department
Answers cross-cover calls or Haiku messages
Performs reassessments at bedside
Responds to pediatric rapid response alerts
Provides virtual consultations to regional ED sites
Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments
Records findings of examinations, assessments, and plan of care
Performs procedures (lumbar puncture)
Writes appropriate medications during admission and prescriptions upon discharge
Orders and interprets laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic results
Determines treatment plan for patient
Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions
Serves as a role model/clinical resource
Acts as a patient advocate
Assists in the review and development of clinical and operational policies and procedures
Requirements
1-2 years background in pediatrics preferred
Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license
Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required (NP Applicants)
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required (PA Applicants)
Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred (PA Applicants)
Nice to have
1-2 years background in pediatrics
Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (PA Applicants)
