Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospitalist looking for an experienced full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their dynamic Pediatric Hospitalist team, known as the CHIPS team. This full-time nocturnist position consists of a 14-hour shift (5p-7a) as the sole-provider in-house with physician back-up available. The schedule includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays. The Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant serves as the overnight team in providing care for children on the inpatient floor during their hospitalization while under the supervision of and in collaboration with a licensed physician. The APP will be responsible for accepting and admitting children from outside hospitals and the in-house pediatric emergency department, answering cross-cover calls or Haiku messages, performing reassessments at bedside, responding to pediatric rapid response alerts, and providing virtual consultations to regional ED sites.
Job Responsibility
Perform initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments
Record findings of examinations, assessments, and plan of care
Perform procedures (lumbar puncture)
Write appropriate orders for medications during admission and prescriptions upon discharge
Order and interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic results
Determine treatment plan for patient
Document all patient encounters in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record
Serve as a role model/clinical resource
Act as a patient advocate for the population served
Assist in review and development of clinical and operational policies and procedures
Requirements
1-2 years background in pediatrics preferred
Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license
Masters Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required (NP Applicants)
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required (PA Applicants)
Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred (PA Applicants)
