  • Work to promote and encourage optimal and realistic patient goals
  • Communicate with patients and families in a respectful manner leading to compassionate and empathetic care
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health issues

  • Document encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric intensivists, pediatric emergency medicine physicians, and other physician colleagues, nurses, diabetes educators, dietitians, social workers, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, family-centered care
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case discussions, clinical pathways, and care planning as appropriate
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and disease management
