Job Description:

Mentoring students in person at an inpatient clinical setting while they demonstrate nursing skills and procedures. Family-centered care of children is the focus, exploring issues of normal childcare as well as health alterations of children from infancy through adolescence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching, and service
  • Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads
  • Plans clinical experiences for and provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students
  • Evaluates and provides documented feedback to student on level of performance
  • Is available for remediation of students
  • Orients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies
  • Develops and posts written clinical assignments
  • Corrects and returns assignments in a timely manner
  • Contributes to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and the College
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision
  • Keeps course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues
  • Works with college administration to improve operation and student satisfaction
  • Participates in College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and policies
  • Serves as a professional role model
  • Utilizes relationship skills in group problem solving
  • Complies with all applicable regulatory rules and standards
  • Reports to the dean or assistant dean

Requirements:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Unencumbered professional nursing license in MO
  • At least two years professional experience within last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse
  • Live within a reasonable proximity of Columbia, MO
  • Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required
  • Genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning
  • Exceptional subject matter expertise with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eager to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect and care
  • Operate with a sense of responsibility and purpose
