Job Description

The PEB Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards in Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures. The role involves conducting inspections, managing client interactions, overseeing welding and NDT processes, and driving continuous improvement in quality assurance practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and implement Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) for PEB projects
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, ISO, and customer specifications
  • Monitor welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW) and ensure adherence to WPS/PQR
  • Perform visual inspections (VT), dimensional checks, and material verification
  • Oversee welding quality and ensure compliance with ASME, AWS D1.1, and EN standards
  • Coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as UT, RT, MT, PT, and PMI
  • Review NDT reports and ensure corrective actions for defects
  • Liaise with Third-Party Inspectors (TPI) and clients for inspections and approvals
  • Address customer quality concerns and ensure timely resolution
  • Prepare Inspection Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and Quality Reports
  • Maintain quality records (Weld Maps, NDT Reports, Mill Certificates, etc.)
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) for defects and implement corrective actions
  • Identify quality deviations and recommend process improvements
  • Train production teams on welding best practices and quality standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3–5 years of experience in PEB/Steel Fabrication Quality Control
  • Certifications: AWS CWI/CSWIP, NDT Level II (UT, RT, MT, PT), ISO 9001 Auditor (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of welding standards (AWS, ASME), NDT methods, and steel structures
  • Experience in customer handling, TPI coordination, and QAP preparation
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), and QA/QC software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
