We are seeking a dedicated Qualified PE Teacher (QTS) for a full-time, long-term placement within our partner secondary schools. In this role, you will be a vital advocate for both physical and mental wellbeing, helping students develop physical literacy, confidence, and a lifelong passion for sport. You will confidently lead a diverse practical curriculum while delivering high-quality theory lessons for examination cohorts.
Job Responsibility
Practical Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver high-energy practical lessons across a wide spectrum of sports, including football, rugby, netball, basketball, gymnastics, athletics, and racket sports
Academic Theory Teaching: Lead classroom-based sessions for GCSE PE, BTEC Sport, or Cambridge Nationals, ensuring students master the physiological, psychological, and sociological aspects of physical education
Inclusive Coaching: Adapt your teaching methods to engage students of all abilities-ensuring the curriculum remains accessible to reluctant learners while stretching and challenging elite student-athletes
Health & Safety Leadership: Maintain rigorous health and safety standards across all sporting environments, including the sports hall, gymnasium, fitness suites, and outdoor pitches
Extracurricular Champion: Drive the school's extracurricular timetable by organising after-school clubs, training sessions, inter-house competitions, and local school league fixtures
Pastoral Role Modelling: Use sport as a vehicle to teach vital life skills, such as leadership, discipline, emotional regulation, and mutual respect
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a closely related discipline
Subject Versatility: The confidence to teach a broad range of practical disciplines alongside the academic depth required to deliver theory-based examination specs
Classroom & Field Command: Strong behaviour management skills and a commanding presence that ensures safety and high engagement on both the field and in the classroom
Passion & Motivation: A natural ability to inspire, motivate, and encourage young people from all backgrounds to participate in physical activity
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
