Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced PDF Remediation Manager to lead accessibility compliance efforts related to digital documents. This role will oversee the remediation of PDF content to ensure it meets WCAG and ADA accessibility standards, helping create inclusive digital experiences for all users. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in document accessibility, remediation workflows, and accessibility compliance frameworks, along with strong leadership and project management skills.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage PDF remediation initiatives to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, and ADA accessibility standards
  • Oversee the remediation of complex PDF documents, ensuring proper tagging, reading order, alt text, semantic structure, and navigation
  • Review and validate remediated documents using accessibility testing tools and screen readers
  • Develop and maintain document accessibility standards, workflows, and quality assurance processes
  • Collaborate with design, communications, and content teams to ensure documents are created with accessibility in mind from the start
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on accessible document creation and best practices
  • Manage remediation projects, timelines, and deliverables across multiple stakeholders
  • Conduct accessibility audits and recommend improvements to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Stay current with evolving WCAG guidelines, accessibility regulations, and industry best practices

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in PDF remediation and digital accessibility
  • Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, and ADA accessibility requirements
  • Hands-on experience remediating complex PDFs, including forms, tables, and multi-layered documents
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, CommonLook PDF, or similar remediation tools
  • Experience testing accessibility using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure high levels of document accuracy and compliance
  • Experience managing accessibility or remediation projects across teams

Nice to have:

  • Experience leading accessibility initiatives or managing remediation teams
  • Familiarity with document accessibility for government, healthcare, education, or regulated industries
  • Knowledge of accessible document creation in Microsoft Word, InDesign, and PowerPoint
  • Accessibility certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or CPWA
