Job Description

PCU Charge RN at CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha, Nebraska. Contributes to the fulfillment of the CHI Health Mission and Vision. Leads the delivery of patient care services on the shift. Serves as a behavioral role model and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles. Acts as a nursing clinical subject matter expert.

Job Responsibility

  • Contributes to the fulfillment of the CHI Health Mission and Vision by implementing and maintaining programs, adhering to policies, and patient care delivery standards of care in assigned departments
  • Leads the delivery of patient care services on the shift to assure patient-centered care needs are met and quality, cost-effective care is delivered
  • Serves as a behavioral role model and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles
  • Acts as a nursing clinical subject matter expert
  • Functions as a mentor and coach
  • Assists with preparation of unit schedules
  • Assists in development and achievement of departmental budgets and goals
  • Assists with payroll activities such as monitoring timekeeping
  • Assists in communicating a shared vision, mission and values within the department
  • Facilitates ongoing problem solving that utilizes Department PI to achieve desired quality outcomes
  • Maintains knowledge and competence in areas of management and clinical practice
  • Demonstrates flexibility from management to clinical

Requirements

  • Graduate of a RN nursing program
  • Registered Nurse: NE (RN:NE)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - within 5 months

  • Posting review strip sheets to the appropriate patient chart (ICU) or unit (PCU or telemetry) daily
  • Troubleshooting monitor problems and contacting Bio Med for repairs as appropriate
  • Notifies appropriate floor to notify nursing staff of need for assessment of patient arrhythmia, no signal, low battery, etc.
  • May help assemble new patient charts, maintains current patient charts, and breaks down patient charts on dismissal
  • Posts appropriate reports to patient chart
  • Performs receptionist and secretarial support for unit
