Job Description:

The ED Technician is a healthcare professional who plays a key role in the ED setting. All ED Tech responsibilities are performed under the supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Emergency Physician. Additionally, the ED Technician reports to the Director of Emergency Services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing BLS care to ED patients in collaboration with ED Registered Nurses and Physicians
  • Performing specialized skills including custom orthopedic splinting, assisting physicians with orthopedic casting, phlebotomy, application of dressings, preparing patients for suturing and urinary catheter insertion
  • Playing an important role in bioterrorism & disaster preparedness including preparation for response to a mass influx of patients

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1 year pre-hospital EMS experience preferred
  • BLS healthcare provider required
  • EMT Certification preferred
  • Ability to take vitals
  • Communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
