Job Description

Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Narre Warren. They are currently seeking a Payroll Team Leader to come in and join their team on a temp contract until 31st July with possible extensions.

Job Responsibility

  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, train, and mentor Payroll Officers to enhance skills and ensure team performance
  • Payroll Operations & Integrity: Oversee end-to-end processing, maintenance, and distribution of payroll data while resolving queries efficiently
  • Financial Management & Budgeting: Manage the salary budget (including FBT), ensure accurate business unit costing, and complete GL and Superannuation reconciliations on time
  • Compliance & Workplace Safety: Stay updated on payroll legislation and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the OH&S Act 2004
  • Data Management & WorkCover: Secure and maintain historical payroll records for compliance, and manage WorkCover reporting alongside the OH&S Coordinator
  • Departmental Collaboration: Support and assist department colleagues to achieve individual, team, and corporate goals

Requirements

  • High volume end to end payroll processing experience
  • Previous payroll leadership experience
  • Proven knowledge and experience with Chris21 system
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance

  • Manage Performance behavior through effective communication by doing regular team meetings, mentoring, and coaching
  • Regularly review and analyze performance to drive effectiveness and address areas for opportunities
  • Ensure that agents have an understanding of the company’s mission and vision and behavioral aspects that play a major role in their yearly performance evaluation/reviews
