Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Tax Analyst to join a local team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this long-term contract role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of payroll tax processes across multiple jurisdictions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with various departments, address complex tax issues, and contribute to key payroll projects, including year-end activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Reconcile payroll and tax reporting processes, resolving discrepancies to ensure accuracy
  • Process tax payments outside of vendor responsibilities, adhering to compliance standards
  • Investigate and resolve general ledger account reconciliation issues in collaboration with Finance
  • Audit employee data and recommend corrective actions for tax setups, partnering with HR Systems to address system-related taxation concerns
  • Manage state tax mobility processes, including multi-state setups and annual mobility events, while guiding employees through taxation requirements
  • Lead the implementation of payroll tax law changes, collaborating with third-party administrators and jurisdictions to resolve complex issues
  • Conduct audits and process corrections to wage and tax information based on applicable regulations
  • Play a key role in the annual payroll year-end process and contribute to other significant payroll-related projects
  • Stay up-to-date on industry changes, providing guidance to plan owners on taxation and reporting requirements
  • Recommend updates to systems and processes to ensure compliance with evolving payroll tax laws

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll tax processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax laws
  • Proven expertise in federal, state, and local payroll tax reporting
  • Experience handling diverse payroll matters, including equity awards and payroll adjustments
  • Strong ability to research and troubleshoot complex tax and compliance issues
  • Proficiency in collaborating across departments to implement process improvements
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively
