Job Description

This long-term contract position is ideal for someone with extensive experience in payroll processing, reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The role requires a proactive individual with strong attention to detail, capable of managing complex payroll operations while providing support to district payroll teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct thorough quarterly reconciliations to ensure payroll tax reporting accuracy across federal, state, Medicare, and local entities
  • Verify gross-to-net payroll calculations and investigate discrepancies in deduction reports
  • Review and manage year-end adjustments to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines
  • Reconcile W-2 forms, ensuring accuracy in taxable and non-taxable wages, deductions, benefits, and imputed income
  • Resolve discrepancies in W-2 data prior to finalization and collaborate with district payroll teams for corrections
  • Prepare and validate payroll data for state and federal filings, troubleshooting submission errors to meet deadlines
  • Provide training and support to district payroll teams on reconciliation processes, year-end closures, and adjustment entries
  • Oversee payroll deduction setups for compliance with retirement plans and organizational policies, ensuring accurate cap reviews

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing and reconciliation, preferably in a multi-entity or district environment
  • Expertise in quarterly and year-end payroll balancing, W-2 verification, and tax compliance
  • Familiarity with retirement deduction structures, including 403(b) and 457 plans
  • Proficiency in preparing payroll data for state and federal filings, with a strong understanding of compliance requirements
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills, with experience in training end users on payroll processes
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll operations and full-cycle payroll management
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems
