Job Description

The Payroll Specialist/Supervisor oversees the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves managing payroll operations, troubleshooting discrepancies, and serving as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries. The Payroll Specialist/Supervisor also assists with payroll reporting, audits, and system improvements.

Job Responsibility

  • Process, review, and authorize payroll runs for all employee groups, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain and update payroll records, employee data, and deduction information
  • Monitor compliance with wage, hour, and payroll regulations
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and inquiries from employees or management
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including tax filings and year-end processes
  • Coordinate with HR, accounting, and finance teams to reconcile payroll information
  • Support audits by providing payroll data and documentation
  • Assist with payroll system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements
  • Supervise payroll team members, delegate tasks, and support training

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience in payroll processing
  • Supervisory or lead experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with payroll software system Paylocity
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
