Job Responsibility:
Manage all payroll functions as a department of one
Verify timekeeping records and consult employees and supervisors about any discrepancies
Data entry for new employee payroll information
Review payroll batches for personnel changes and overall accuracy
Process weekly payroll and initiate direct deposits for 350+ employees
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports as required
Audit and verify all time keeping records of employees’ hours worked as well as any deductions or withholdings and tax reporting required to comply with the law
Receive, process and track all garnishments
Reconcile all paid time off usage and maintain accurate PTO balances in Viewpoint Vista ERP
Manage 401(k) enrollments, deferrals and loans
Change employee banking records as necessary to process payments accurately
Keep current on federal, state, and city payroll tax laws
Complete and submit monthly OCIP reports as required on a project-by-project basis
Coordinate with Human Resources on benefits enrollment, deductions and tracking
Respond to employee payroll inquiries regarding wages, deductions, and pay discrepancies
Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation and payroll audits
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Heavy civil construction experience is a strong plus
Degree from an accredited college or university is a plus
Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience
Experience in Viewpoint Vista or other construction ERP system is a plus
Proficient with federal and state payroll tax liabilities
Knowledge of FLSA regulations
Accuracy with 10-key and data entry
Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrates absolute confidentiality and discretion
Communicate and work well with people
Works well in high pressure environment
Able to prioritize
Strong critical thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
