We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager to lead payroll operations for a construction-focused organization in SLC, Utah. This Contract position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can oversee accurate weekly payroll processing, manage multi-state payroll activities, and support certified payroll obligations for a large employee population. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of full-cycle payroll, and the ability to maintain compliance in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Lead end-to-end payroll administration for a workforce of approximately 900 employees, ensuring timely and accurate weekly payments
Oversee payroll processing across multiple states while applying federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations correctly
Manage certified payroll reporting and documentation to support construction projects and contractual compliance requirements
Review payroll records, earnings, deductions, and adjustments to resolve discrepancies and maintain data integrity
Supervise and guide payroll staff, establish priorities, and promote consistent execution of payroll procedures
Partner with internal teams to address employee payroll questions, audit findings, and reporting needs related to payroll operations
Monitor compliance with company policies and applicable labor requirements within the construction industry
Prepare payroll-related reports, support audits, and maintain organized records for internal and external review
Requirements
Proven experience leading full-cycle payroll operations in a high-volume environment
Background managing payroll for more than 500 employees with weekly processing cycles
Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and related compliance requirements
Experience preparing and reviewing certified payroll within the construction industry
Demonstrated leadership ability with experience overseeing payroll staff or payroll operations
Solid understanding of payroll reporting, reconciliations, and issue resolution
High attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced setting
