We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Staff Accountant to join our growing team in North Charleston, South Carolina. In this role, you will oversee bi-weekly payroll processes while contributing to general accounting tasks in collaboration with department managers and staff accountants. Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly payroll, including payroll taxes, benefit deductions, and garnishments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Collaborate with department managers to address payroll-related inquiries and provide support
Assist in general accounting tasks such as reconciliations and monthly financial close processes
Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
Support the Accounting Manager with ad hoc financial reports and analysis
Utilize tools such as QuickBooks Enterprise and Paylocity to manage payroll and accounting operations efficiently
Ensure proper documentation and adherence to company policies for all payroll and accounting activities
Stay updated on industry trends and changes in payroll regulations to ensure compliance
Contribute to process improvements within the accounting department to enhance efficiency
Work closely with the team to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through accurate and timely payroll services
Requirements:
Minimum of three years of direct payroll experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, along with QuickBooks Enterprise
Experience working with Paylocity or similar third-party payroll providers
Familiarity with accounting processes in service industries, especially plumbing or contracting, is preferred
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various responsibilities effectively
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and address payroll-related concerns
High level of reliability and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll and accounting tasks
Ability to work in-office Monday through Friday and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
