Payroll specialist

• Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
• Maintain and update payroll records, including new hire information, changes in pay, terminations, and deductions
• Review and verify timesheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
• Prepare and submit payroll reports and tax filings as required
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a timely and professional manner
• Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting departments to coordinate information and resolve issues
• Support audits by providing payroll information and documentation as needed
• Recommend improvements to payroll processing and internal controls

• Proven experience as a payroll specialist, payroll administrator, or similar role
• Familiarity with relevant payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Certification such as Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus
