We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a high-volume workforce in Costa Mesa, California. This Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage end-to-end payroll activities with accuracy, maintain compliance across multiple states, and keep payroll records organized and up to date. The right candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with large employee populations, weekly payroll cycles, and payroll systems such as Paycom and Rippling.
Job Responsibility
Administer complete payroll processing for approximately 1,500 employees, ensuring timely and accurate pay each cycle
Execute multi-state payroll activities while applying applicable wage, tax, and compliance requirements
Manage weekly payroll runs from data review through final submission and post-payroll validation
Reconcile payroll records, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues related to pay, deductions, and taxes
Maintain detailed payroll tracking and reporting to support accuracy, audits, and internal review
Support payroll activities across the full employee lifecycle, including updates affecting compensation and deductions
Use payroll platforms such as Paycom and Rippling to process transactions, maintain records, and improve efficiency
Assist with payroll-related transition work involving Rippling as part of ongoing operational support
Requirements
3+ years of payroll experience with direct responsibility for end-to-end payroll processing
Proven ability to manage payroll for large employee populations, including environments with more than 500 employees
Experience processing payroll across multiple states with a strong understanding of related compliance requirements
Hands-on knowledge of weekly payroll cycles, reconciliations, and payroll record maintenance
Proficiency with payroll systems and software, including experience with Paycom and/or Rippling
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing payroll data, deductions, and tax-related information
Ability to organize payroll workflows, track processing status, and meet strict deadlines in a contract assignment
