We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Capitol Heights, Maryland. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and supporting HR functions. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
Job Responsibility:
Process and input timesheets into payroll systems, including Viewpoint and Gusto, to ensure timely and accurate payment
Manage paid time off requests and incorporate them into payroll calculations
Prepare certified payroll reports and First Source reporting as required
Resolve payroll discrepancies by investigating and addressing issues promptly and accurately
Coordinate the processing of insurance and benefits documents for employees
Oversee onboarding of new team members, facilitating required government documentation and pre-employment procedures
Handle termination processes, including closing out benefits for departing employees
Maintain confidentiality of employee records and ensure compliance with employment laws
Act as a liaison between employees and insurance providers for injury claims
Promote employee engagement by addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and fostering a positive workplace environment
Requirements:
Proven experience in payroll processing, including multi-state payroll systems
Proficiency with payroll software such as Gusto and Viewpoint Vista
Strong understanding of employee timesheet management and reporting
Knowledge of certified payroll and compliance reporting requirements
Familiarity with HR processes related to onboarding and offboarding employees
Ability to ensure confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to address payroll discrepancies
Awareness of critical employment laws and regulations
