We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to support complex payroll operations for a large and dynamic workforce in Franklin, Tennessee. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone with deep knowledge of U.S. payroll administration, including union construction environments, along with exposure to Canadian payroll practices. The role will focus on accuracy, compliance, and detailed payroll oversight across multiple pay scenarios, employee groups, and reporting obligations.
Job Responsibility
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume employee population, ensuring timely and accurate pay administration across multiple states
Administer payroll for union construction employees spanning multiple trades, while applying varying union agreements, pay rules, and reciprocal arrangements correctly
Coordinate and validate union-related deductions and employer-paid benefit contributions, including payments tied to retirement, healthcare, vacation funds, and union dues
Prepare and review certified payroll submissions required for client projects and government-related work, ensuring all wage and hour reporting meets contractual and regulatory standards
Support union and certified payroll audits by organizing records, responding to auditor requests, and helping resolve discrepancies efficiently
Assist with Canadian payroll activities, including payroll calculations and compliance considerations related to federal and provincial requirements
Monitor workers' compensation allocations throughout the year to help maintain accurate job costing and payroll-related expense alignment
Contribute to annual workers' compensation estimate reviews and true-up audits by reconciling payroll data and supplying required documentation
Use payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now to maintain employee payroll records, process updates, and strengthen reporting accuracy
Requirements
Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll for a workforce of more than 500 employees
Strong background in multi-state U.S. payroll processing and payroll compliance
Hands-on experience with union construction payroll, including multiple trades and a wide range of union agreements
Knowledge of certified payroll reporting requirements for client-facing or government-funded projects
Familiarity with union deductions, union dues, and employer-paid union benefit calculations
Experience supporting workers' compensation reporting, annual reconciliations, and audit preparation
Working knowledge of Canadian payroll practices, including tax and provincial payroll considerations
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or a similar enterprise payroll platform
