Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Lewiston, Maine. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing, tax reporting, and benefit administration. This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and proficiency with payroll systems.

Job Responsibility:

Process biweekly payroll by importing electronic timesheets, running reports, and finalizing payroll activities
update and maintain payroll files, including setting up accruals and monitoring account balances
review and approve quarterly tax information and sign off on payroll tax reports
reconcile payroll reports, balance general ledger files, and ensure accurate financial postings
upload and verify general ledger files for accuracy and completeness
handle 401(k) and RRSP administration, ensuring timely contributions and compliance
manage benefit-related functions, including enrollment and updates
utilize accounting software systems and UKG platforms (Ready and Pro) to support payroll operations
analyze payroll data for discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed
provide support and guidance on payroll-related inquiries and issues.

Requirements:

Proven experience in payroll administration and processing
proficiency in accounting software systems and familiarity with UKG Ready and UKG Pro
knowledge of 401(k) and RRSP administration and benefit management
strong understanding of payroll tax reporting and compliance requirements
excellent analytical and reconciliation skills
ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
