We are an exciting company located in Ontario, CA seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our accounting/HR team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal and California labor laws. Job Responsibility:
Process weekly or biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Prepare and submit payroll tax filings (federal and CA)
Reconcile payroll reports, benefits deductions, and garnishments
Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries
Prepare payroll journal entries and assist with month-end close
Manage PTO tracking and accrual calculations
Support audits and year-end processes (W-2s, 941s, DE9/DE9C, etc.)
Requirements:
3+ years of payroll processing experience
Strong knowledge of California labor laws and payroll compliance
Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, UKG, Ceridian, or similar)
Proficiency in Excel (lookups, formulas, data reconciliation)
Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
Ability to meet strict deadlines
Nice to have:
CPP certification is a plus
