We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a fast-paced healthcare organization. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who can manage high-volume, multi-state payroll operations while working closely with a collaborative team. The role is fully onsite and offers the chance to contribute immediately to accurate payroll execution, compliance, and ongoing process support.
Job Responsibility:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population across several states, including regular and off-cycle pay runs
Review and administer payroll adjustments such as garnishments, premium pay, incentive payments, and workers’ compensation-related items
Calculate and maintain employee leave balances, benefit deductions, and other payroll-related withholdings with a high degree of accuracy
Reconcile payroll activity and record entries to the General Ledger in accordance with accounting standards and internal controls
Prepare, audit, and interpret payroll reports to confirm accuracy and support compliance with applicable laws and policies
Partner with payroll leadership and team members to streamline workflows and improve payroll operations
Provide functional support for Kronos and assist with payroll system-related initiatives, including upcoming implementation efforts
Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll regulations to help ensure compliant payroll practices
Support critical payroll deadlines by working additional hours when business needs require it
Requirements:
At least 2 years of payroll experience, including full-cycle processing in a high-volume environment
Hands-on experience managing multi-state payroll with a strong understanding of compliance requirements
Working knowledge of payroll elements such as garnishments, bonuses, shift differentials, benefits, and workers’ compensation
Familiarity with Lawson is preferred, along with the ability to learn and adapt to new payroll systems
Understanding of payroll accounting and experience posting payroll transactions to the General Ledger
Strong Excel skills and the ability to work accurately with payroll data and reporting
Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills in a team-oriented setting
