We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations for a workforce of approximately 3,000 employees, both union and nonunion. The ideal candidate will bring extensive payroll expertise and advanced technical skills to ensure seamless payroll processing and compliance.
Job Responsibility:
Process payroll for a large workforce across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and timely execution
Collaborate with third-party payroll processors to maintain smooth payroll operations
Manage and resolve payroll discrepancies, including garnishments and adjustments
Utilize timekeeping systems such as Kronos to track employee attendance and hours
Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other documentation to support payroll processes
Administer 401(k) funding and provide support for retirement plan contributions
Address payroll inquiries and provide clear resolutions to employees and management
Assist with leave of absence administration and ensure compliance with company policies
Support ad hoc payroll-related projects as needed to enhance operational efficiency
Leverage advanced Excel skills to analyze payroll data and prepare reports
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on payroll experience, including multistate and union payroll
Proficiency in large payroll systems
experience with UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) is a plus
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting
Familiarity with timekeeping systems such as Kronos
Strong understanding of payroll compliance, including garnishments and tax regulations
Expertise in administering retirement plans, such as 401(k) contributions
Proven ability to handle payroll for over 500 employees in a fast-paced environment
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in resolving discrepancies
