Payroll Specialist

• Process payroll for a workforce of 300+ employees, including both permanent and part-time staff
• Address payroll corrections, deductions, and adjustments to ensure accuracy
• Manage CalPERS-related payroll items, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
• Administer benefits adjustments, including unpaid leave, late enrollments, and benefit cutoffs
• Handle final checks and payouts for departing employees
• Ensure payroll aligns with contract requirements and organizational policies
• Resolve timing issues and ensure all payroll processes are completed promptly
• Utilize payroll software to maintain accurate records and streamline operations
• Collaborate with HR staff to address payroll-related questions and concerns
• Maintain compliance with city policies and public sector payroll regulations

• At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a public sector or city government setting
• Proficiency in full-cycle payroll processing, including handling multi-state payroll
• Experience managing payroll operations for large teams, ideally 500+ employees
• Familiarity with Tyler payroll systems or similar software is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including benefit administration and deductions
• Ability to work effectively with HR teams and address payroll inquiries
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or comparable systems is a plus
