An established firm in Plainview, NY is seeking a temporary Payroll Specialist to assist the payroll department during a short-term coverage need due to illness. This role is expected to last approximately 2 months, with the potential to convert to a permanent opportunity depending on business needs and performance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on payroll experience supporting organizations of 1500+ employees, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with UKG or a similar payroll/timekeeping system.
Job Responsibility:
Process and support payroll for a multi-employee organization
Review, audit, and verify employee timekeeping data in UKG
Assist with payroll corrections, adjustments, and employee inquiries
Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain payroll records and documentation
Partner with internal teams to resolve discrepancies or missing information
Support payroll-related reporting and administrative tasks
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable payroll regulations
Requirements:
Prior payroll processing experience required
Experience with UKG strongly preferred
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Comfortable handling confidential employee information
Strong communication and follow-up skills
Experience supporting payroll for a mid-sized or large organization is a plus
Engineering, construction, professional services, or similar industry experience is helpful but not required
