We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist (Contract) to support payroll operations for a growing organization based in Bellevue, Washington. This role will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Process full-cycle payroll on a regular schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly)
Ensure compliance with federal, state (including Washington State), and local payroll regulations
Maintain and audit payroll records, including wages, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
Reconcile payroll reports and resolve payroll discrepancies
Coordinate with HR and Finance teams regarding new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
Respond to employee payroll questions in a professional and timely manner
Assist with payroll-related reporting, audits, and year-end activities (including W-2 support)
Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls
Requirements:
3+ years of payroll processing experience (contract or permanent)
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and employment tax requirements
Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex, or similar)
Proficiency with Excel (vlookups, pivots, basic formulas)
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
