Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist (Contract) to support payroll operations for a growing organization based in Bellevue, Washington. This role will be responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Process full-cycle payroll on a regular schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state (including Washington State), and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain and audit payroll records, including wages, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance teams regarding new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
  • Respond to employee payroll questions in a professional and timely manner
  • Assist with payroll-related reporting, audits, and year-end activities (including W-2 support)
  • Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls

Requirements

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience (contract or permanent)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and employment tax requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Excel (vlookups, pivots, basic formulas)
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
