We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Parsippany, New Jersey. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key part in processing payroll for a multi-entity organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position offers the opportunity to work on-site four days a week initially, transitioning to three days on-site as the role progresses.
Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly payroll for employees and independent contractors across multiple states and entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Validate time and attendance records while providing training and support to managers and employees as needed
Research and process employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings in accordance with applicable laws
Manage payroll exceptions, including commissions, bonuses, and expense reports, while ensuring accurate and timely processing
Set up and maintain payroll tax accounts for new entities, including registrations for federal, state, and local requirements
Coordinate with the Accounting team to ensure timely payroll tax filings and payments
Process employee lifecycle changes, such as new team members, terminations, and pay adjustments, and generate summary reports for management
Reconcile payroll general ledger integrations to ensure accurate labor cost allocations and compliance with accounting standards
Oversee the preparation and distribution of annual W-2s and 1099s
Stay informed of changes in employment tax laws and ensure updates are reflected in payroll processes
Requirements:
At least 3-5 years of payroll experience in a multi-entity corporate environment
Minimum 3 years of experience managing payroll systems, with UKG Pro preferred
In-depth knowledge of payroll tax compliance, account setup, and reporting requirements
Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger integrations related to payroll
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with HR and Accounting system integrations and data management
Reliable transportation and the ability to perform essential job duties on-site as required
