We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support a growing organization in the Eagan area. This contract or contract to hire opportunity is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced in managing payroll processes from start to finish. The person in this role will play a key part in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations and company policies.
Job Responsibility
Process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy in wages, deductions, and tax withholdings
Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to compensation or benefits
Review and audit payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to final processing
Manage payroll-related deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and taxes in accordance with regulations
Partner with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate employee data and proper reporting
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide clear, timely resolution to questions or issues
Prepare payroll reports and support month-end and year-end accounting activities
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and company policies
Requirements
Experience in payroll processing or a closely related accounting or HR function
Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax withholdings, and deductions
Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar)
Ability to review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies efficiently
High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools used for payroll tracking and reconciliation
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and recurring payroll cycles
Clear communication skills for working with employees, HR, and leadership
