We are seeking a Payroll Specialist with strong system expertise and a background in professional services environments. This role will be responsible for processing complex payrolls, ensuring compliance across multiple pay structures, and supporting ongoing system improvements. The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical payroll knowledge, systems experience, and the ability to navigate project-based or billable-hour environments. Experience with certified payroll and system implementations is highly valued.
Job Responsibility:
Process multi-state payroll on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis with a high level of accuracy
Manage payroll for salaried, hourly, and project-based employees
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
Handle certified payroll reporting, including prevailing wage requirements
Maintain and audit payroll data within HRIS and payroll systems
Support system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements
Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies
Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation
Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Requirements:
3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience
Experience in professional services, consulting, or project-based environments
Exposure to certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting
Payroll/HRIS: Dayforce (Ceridian) or comparable platform (required)
ERP/Project Systems: Deltek Vantagepoint or similar (strongly preferred)
Microsoft Excel: Intermediate to advanced (pivot tables, lookups, data validation)
Nice to have:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
Experience supporting payroll-related system implementations or upgrades
