Our team is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our organization, supporting payroll processing for over 1,500 employees across multiple states. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll, leveraging your deep expertise in multi-state payroll regulations and high-volume processing.
Job Responsibility:
Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for more than 1,500 employees in multiple states, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Audit, reconcile, and validate payroll data, including new hires, terminations, benefit deductions, bonuses, commissions, and overtime calculations
Maintain and update employee payroll records, execute off-cycle payments, and respond to payroll-related inquiries in a timely manner
Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure data integrity and accurate payroll processing
Research, interpret, and implement changes in multi-state payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour compliance
Support year-end processes including W-2, W-4, and other tax reporting requirements
Participate in payroll system upgrades, process improvements, and implementation of payroll best practices
Requirements:
3+ years of payroll processing experience for mid-to-large sized companies (1,000+ employees), with a strong focus on multi-state payroll
Advanced knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax requirements for multiple states
Experience with leading payroll systems
Strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills
Ability to balance priorities in a deadline-driven environment and work collaboratively across departments
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing payroll for organizations with over 1,000 employees, particularly with multi-state operations
In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage compliance across multiple jurisdictions
Proficiency in using leading payroll systems such as Workday, Paycom, Paychex, or similar platforms
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure payroll accuracy
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams
Nice to have:
Certified Payroll credential (CPP) is preferred but not required
