Job Description

Bridget Killen from Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Specialist with at least 2 years of payroll experience for a respected nonprofit organization. This position offers a flexible work schedule and the opportunity to support a mission-driven team.

Job Responsibility

  • Process semi monthly payroll for staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
  • Maintain payroll records and employee data in accordance with statutory requirements and internal policies
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, providing clear and helpful support
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related tax filings and reports (federal, state, and local)
  • Reconcile payroll data and assist with audits as needed
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless workflow for new hires, terminations, and changes
  • Uphold confidentiality and data security at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a nonprofit or multi-department environment
  • Proficiency with payroll software systems
  • experience with platforms such as ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, or similar
  • Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws
  • Strong Excel and data entry skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative attitude
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
