We are looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will manage payroll operations for a well-established non-profit organization, ensuring compliance with multi-state regulations for exempt and non-exempt employees.
Job Responsibility:
Process payroll for employees across all 50 states, ensuring adherence to state-specific regulations
Manage bi-weekly payroll operations, guaranteeing timely and accurate payments
Utilize ADP Workforce Now or similar platforms to streamline payroll functions
Remind employees and supervisors to review and approve timecards, ensuring all reported hours are accurate
Support payroll documentation efforts to facilitate an upcoming system transition
Handle payroll tax-related tasks, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies
Collaborate with team members to resolve payroll discrepancies and address employee inquiries
Assist in managing payroll processes for both U.S. and Canadian employees, if applicable
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in multi-state payroll processing
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now or comparable payroll systems
Ability to work on-site at least two days per week, with remote options for the remaining days
Familiarity with payroll management for exempt and non-exempt employees
Strong attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy
Problem-solving skills to address payroll issues promptly and effectively
Capability to work independently while adhering to established procedures
Nice to have:
Experience with Canadian payroll is a plus but not required
