We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a growing team in Macedonia, Ohio in a contract-to-permanent role. This position is ideal for someone who brings hands-on payroll experience, enjoys working with detailed data, and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will help ensure timely and accurate payroll processing while collaborating with internal partners to support compliance and reporting needs.
Job Responsibility
Manage weekly multi-state payroll processing with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
Examine payroll inputs to identify and correct issues involving time worked, earnings, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions
Coordinate payroll-related payments, including advances, direct deposit activity, and employment verification support
Administer wage garnishments and other legally required deductions in accordance with applicable orders and payroll regulations
Organize and maintain payroll files, supporting documentation, and records to ensure audit readiness and data integrity
Monitor payroll practices for alignment with federal, state, and local wage and hour requirements
Provide documentation and research support for internal and external payroll audits
Work closely with HR, Tax, Compliance, and Operations teams to verify employee and payroll data
Assist with payroll system maintenance, reporting, and validation of information across platforms such as Excel, SAP, ADP, UKG, or similar tools
Requirements
1+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience, with exposure to full-cycle payroll processing
Experience handling multi-state payroll and understanding of payroll tax considerations
Familiarity with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG, SAP, AccuTerm, Heartland, or comparable systems
Proven ability to manage payroll for large employee populations, including environments with 500+ employees
Strong attention to detail and the ability to review data carefully for errors and inconsistencies
Positive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities
Working knowledge of garnishments, deductions, and payroll recordkeeping practices
