Job Description:

We are looking for a strong Payroll Specialist to join a Manufacturing team located in Brampton to support the year-end closing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Execute the complete payroll year-end closing process, including heavy and meticulous reconciliation of all payroll accounts, the General Ledger, and year-to-date deductions (CPP/QPP, EI, Income Tax) to ensure data integrity prior to T4 and T4 Summary filing
  • Serve as a key user of the payroll and HRIS system, performing all necessary year-end procedures such as generating preview T4 data, processing year-end adjustments, and preparing the system for the new tax year's legislative changes (e.g., CPP/QPP and EI maximums/rates)
  • Accurately process multi-provincial and complex bi-weekly/monthly payroll for a high volume of employees, covering all elements from data entry, calculation of taxable benefits, to final payment and record management
  • Prepare, file, and verify all necessary payroll tax reports and remittances (including the PD7A), with a primary focus on the timely preparation and electronic filing of T4, T4A, and Quebec provincial slips (RL-1s) with the CRA and Revenu Québec
  • Prepare detailed schedules and documentation to support audits related to payroll, benefits, Employer Health Tax (EHT), and Workers' Compensation (WCB/WSIB/CNESST) remittances and reporting
  • Administer and reconcile complex employee deductions, including retirement contributions (RRSPs, RPPs), union dues, and all statutory and voluntary wage garnishments, ensuring proper box allocation on T4 slips
  • Respond to and resolve complex employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies, particularly those related to T4 slips, Records of Employment (ROEs), cumulative earnings, and the impact of the new two-tiered CPP2 contributions, providing excellent customer service

Requirements:

  • PCP or PLP designation preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience processing payroll for Canadian employees is required
  • Multiprovince payroll processing experience is required
  • Experience with various payroll systems is required, including ADP, Ceridian, Payworks, etc.
  • Experience managing year-end is required
