In this role, you’ll be part of the People & HR Service Delivery function. Operating as one unified team, P&HRSD operationalises and enables HR processes to ensure a consistent, high-quality colleague experience. We are the primary gateway for all HR needs — supporting colleagues and people managers through the full employment lifecycle to deliver vital HR services. By managing payroll operations effectively and ensuring compliance with complex regulations, the Payroll Professional plays a vital role in supporting BT’s financial integrity and colleague satisfaction.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, maintain, and enhance payroll reporting suites, dashboards, and KPIs to support operational performance and strategic decision-making
Analyse large and complex data sets to identify patterns, anomalies, or areas requiring attention or escalation
Produce insightful commentary on payroll trends, variances, compliance indicators, headcount & costs
Use data to support audit activities, controls testing, and compliance monitoring & translate data findings into practical payroll implications, highlighting risks, root causes, and recommended actions
Assist with testing of payroll-related system changes, ensuring data integrity and output accuracy
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying data-driven opportunities to streamline processes or enhance accuracy
Work closely with Payroll Operations, HR, Digital and Finance to ensure consistent, reliable data and reporting
Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, supporting decisions with robust analysis and evidence
Requirements:
Strong experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence (Power BI, Excel, SQL, or similar tools)
Ability to interpret complex data sets and present insights in a clear, compelling manner
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of data accuracy
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and identify root causes
Experience working with large data volumes and structured/unstructured data sources
Working knowledge of payroll processes, pay types, statutory rules, and SAP payroll system outputs
Experience supporting payroll teams in an analytical or reporting capacity
