In this role, you’ll be part of the People & HR Service Delivery function. Operating as one unified team, P&HRSD operationalises and enables HR processes to ensure a consistent, high-quality colleague experience. We are the primary gateway for all HR needs — supporting colleagues and people managers through the full employment lifecycle to deliver vital HR services. In this role, you’ll ensure colleagues are compensated accurately and on time, building trust and maintaining morale across the organisation. By managing payroll operations effectively and ensuring compliance with complex regulations, the Payroll Professional plays a vital role in supporting BT’s financial integrity and colleague satisfaction.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the subject matter expert for Payroll processes, systems and compliance
Own daily operational tasks for the Ops Team, performing quality checks and escalating issues as needed
Liaise with Payroll, Ask HR, HR Ops, Digital teams, and external vendors to resolve complex queries
Provide guidance and training to payroll teams and business units
Ensure accurate employee data across systems and prepare reports for leadership and regulatory purposes
Collaborate with internal teams to improve controls, streamline processes, and leverage automation tools
Maintain all process documentation, including work instructions and ‘One HR’ pages, ensuring information is up to date
Requirements:
Extensive payroll experience in medium to large-scale organisations
Hands-on experience with SAP payroll systems and related platforms, including QM reporting
Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and regulatory requirements
Skilled in payroll reporting and data analysis, with advanced Excel/Office 365 proficiency
Proven ability to streamline payroll processes and improve operational efficiency
