In this role, you’ll be part of the People & HR Service Delivery function. Operating as one unified team, P&HRSD operationalises and enables HR processes to ensure a consistent, high-quality colleague experience. We are the primary gateway for all HR needs — supporting colleagues and people managers through the full employment lifecycle to deliver vital HR services. Our vision is to create a seamless, connected people experience that empowers individuals and helps BT perform at its best. As experience owners for all things people-related, we make every interaction with P&HRSD simple, consistent, and meaningful, allowing colleagues to focus on what matters most. In this role, you’ll ensure colleagues are compensated accurately and on time, building trust and maintaining morale across the organisation. By managing payroll operations effectively and ensuring compliance with complex regulations, the Payroll Professional plays a vital role in supporting BT’s financial integrity and colleague satisfaction.

Job Responsibility:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for Payroll processes, systems and compliance
  • Own daily operational tasks for the Ops Team, performing quality checks and escalating issues as needed
  • Liaise with Payroll, Ask HR, HR Ops, Digital teams, and external vendors to resolve complex queries
  • Provide guidance and training to payroll teams and business units
  • Ensure accurate employee data across systems and prepare reports for leadership and regulatory purposes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve controls, streamline processes, and leverage automation tools
  • Maintain all process documentation, including work instructions and ‘One HR’ pages, ensuring information is up to date

Requirements:

  • Extensive payroll experience in medium to large-scale organisations
  • Hands-on experience with SAP payroll systems and related platforms, including QM reporting
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Skilled in payroll reporting and data analysis, with advanced Excel/Office 365 proficiency
  • Proven ability to streamline payroll processes and improve operational efficiency
What we offer:

  • From January 2025, equal family leave: receive 18 weeks at full pay, 8 weeks at half pay and 26 weeks at the statutory rate. It’s for all parents, no matter how your family is made up
  • Enhanced women’s health support: including help with menopause symptoms, cancer screenings, period care and more
  • 22 days annual leave (not including bank holidays), increasing with service
  • 24/7 private virtual GP appointments for UK colleagues
  • 2 weeks carer’s leave
