The Payroll Professional – Full Time reports to the Payroll Supervisor and assists with the collecting & processing of payroll related records and information. This role will be responsible for contributing to financial reporting, internal controls, and process development.
Job Responsibility:
Ensures Timesheets are complete, accurate, submitted and approved in accordance with defined policies and in a timely manner for multiple entities
Assists the supervisor to ensure that employee deductions, including benefits, are complete and accurate
Assists the supervisor to ensure that required tax filings are complete, accurate, and filed in a timely manner
Assist the supervisor in the preparation and submission of weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for multiple entities
Assist the supervisor in recording payroll journal entries for each pay period and reconciling payroll-related general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
Processes new hires and terminations
Assist with the preparation of materials required for internal and external auditors, including the Department of Workforce Services, DCAA, and DCMA
Works directly with the Human Resources team and benefits broker to help manage benefits administration, including annual open enrollment
Assist in the reconciliation of monthly benefits billings to internal records to ensure accuracy and completeness
Supports finance team by recording transactions, verifying proper approval, coding, and processing payments
Plays a key role in system implementations to ensure compliance, efficiency, and value-added analytics and reporting
Works collaboratively with other functions to support company objectives
Requirements:
2-3 years of payroll experience with proven track record of success in positions of increasing responsibility
Experience in assisting the processing of payroll for multiple states preferred
Understanding of accounts payable and general accounting processes preferred
Experience with defense contracting is a plus
Proficient with MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, and extract and manipulate required data
Excellent analytical and reporting skills
Ability to maintain strict confidence when dealing with confidential information
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Flexible and adaptable (willing to work on other problems as needed)
Comfortable with a fast-paced, demanding environment. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and juggle several urgent demands at any given time, while adapting to changing priorities
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to produce accurate and high-quality work in a timely manner
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to see the big picture and ensure daily work supports the strategic plan
Proof of right to lawfully work in the United States required
