Job Description:

ANC is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer, based in Bella Vista, NSW, to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of our bi-weekly payroll while supporting the continuous improvement of payroll systems and compliance processes. This role is pivotal in maintaining payroll integrity, providing expert support on award interpretation, and collaborating across departments to uphold our commitment to accuracy, compliance, and exceptional employee service. You will also contribute to financial accounting functions such as journal entries and reconciliations and play an active role in system enhancements that drive efficiency and scalability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, internal controls, and ATO reporting obligations
  • Maintain data accuracy across payroll and workforce management systems
  • Partner with Department Managers to validate rosters, timesheets, and pay data
  • Provide expert advice on award interpretation and handle complex payroll queries
  • Calculate and process leaves and redundancy payments
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll integration into the accounting system
  • Assist with account reconciliations for superannuation, payroll tax, and workers compensation
  • Support internal and external audits, system improvements, and payroll-related projects
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within the Finance and Payroll teams
  • Support as required with the ad-hoc work and ERP system

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in end-to-end payroll processing in a medium to large organisation preferably in Transport and Logistics industry
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and modern awards
  • Experience with Workforce Management and Payroll systems
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex awards and agreements
  • Sound knowledge of journal preparation, reconciliations, and payroll accounting entries
  • High level of attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with a strong customer service focus
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Collaborative team player who contributes positively to team culture
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a logical approach to problem-solving
