We are partnering with a global industrial manufacturing and technology leader that provides specialised equipment and digital infrastructure solutions for the transport sector. They are looking for a Payroll professional to join the team in either their Sydney or Melbourne office. Are you looking for a long-term career opportunity with brilliant perks? Job Responsibility

  • End-to-End Processing: Assist with multiple payroll cycles across both Australian and New Zealand entities, including handling employee Masterfile updates and timesheet variables
  • Compliance & Interpretation: Interpret the National Employment Standards (NES), Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements (EBAs)
  • Calculations & Variations: Manage complex leave and termination calculations, as well as reporting payroll data to various stakeholders
  • Financial Reconciliations: Assist with monthly reconciliations, general ledger activities, and prepare payroll data reports for stakeholders
  • Third-Party Payments: Coordinate payments for PAYG, superannuation, workers' compensation, and third-party vendors
  • Query Resolution: Respond to employee payroll enquiries in a timely, customer-centric manner
  • System Backup: Take full ownership of running the payroll function in the absence of the Payroll Manager during leave periods

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Payroll Officer within a medium-sized organisation
  • Previous experience dealing with multiple cycles and ABNs is essential
  • Experience using Sage Micropay (Meridian) is essential
  • Strong MS Excel skills and exposure to timekeeping systems
  • A robust understanding of current payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation frameworks
  • A confident and organised communicator who can work independently and hit required deadlines

Nice to have

Certificate IV in Payroll (or a similar qualification) is desirable

  • Guiding the supporting Payroll Officer with tax tracking for the internationally mobile population on the DiveOps payroll
  • Receives and reviews payroll records from varying sources (including Onboard Tracker) ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations within the appropriate jurisdiction
  • Adhering to legislative and company timescales for the submission of payroll data to all relevant stakeholders, being mindful of overseas time differences and national holidays
  • Handling a variety of payroll transactions for new employees (both foreign and UK nationals), retirements, terminations, changes to salaries, benefits, taxes, salary sacrifices, deductions, accruals etc
  • Where necessary, supporting the Payroll Manager with foreign tax calculations
  • Maintaining and monitoring the integrity of data in systems and from sources that are integrated or interfaced with the payrolling process
  • Liaising directly with the Offshore Energy division to adapt to changes in payroll legislation and processing methods
  • Supporting the Offshore payroll team to answer queries, providing in-depth responses where required
