Job Description:

Join a leading Australian organisation within a dynamic and evolving sector. As a Payroll Officer, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the accurate and timely compensation of our diverse national workforce.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing for a national workforce across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with relevant industrial instruments and legislation
  • Prepare, process, and reconcile all payroll-related components, including superannuation, deductions, salary sacrifice, and other allowances
  • Conduct end-of-month payroll activities, including tax calculations, leave provisions, and superannuation reconciliations
  • Assist with end-of-financial-year payroll processing and reporting requirements
  • Prepare reconciliations for payroll-related accounts and process payroll journals into the accounting system
  • Generate payroll information for management reporting, budgets, and special projects
  • Stay abreast of legislative and compliance changes related to employment and remuneration to ensure ongoing adherence
  • Contribute to metrics and analytical reporting, such as headcount, absenteeism, turnover, and leave balances
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across HR, Finance, and management regarding payroll-related queries and issues
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the payroll function to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) managing the end-to-end payroll function within a multi-site or multi-entity environment, ideally with exposure to various employment agreements
  • Proven experience with Netsuite, as system for processing payroll
  • Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge practically
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing reports and analysing payroll data
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all aspects of payroll processing
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a strong commitment to providing excellent internal service

Nice to have:

Accounting/Finance qualification to be highly regarded
