We are seeking a highly adaptable Payroll Officer / Accounts Officer / Office Support professional to join a leading Global Rail Construction company that has newly established major rail project about to commence in Sydney. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a start-up project environment, where processes are being built and flexibility is essential. This role will suit a proactive, hands-on individual who thrives in ambiguous environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is willing to support across payroll, accounts, and general office operations as required.
Job Responsibility:
End-to-end payroll processing, including data entry, timesheets, allowances, and variations
Support accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and expense processing
Assist with project start-up administration, including systems, procedures, and record keeping
Provide general office and administrative support to the project team
Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and external service providers
Identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and help establish efficient processes
Support ad-hoc tasks as the project evolves
Requirements:
Experience in payroll and/or accounts administration (end-to-end payroll experience preferred)
Strong understanding of Australian payroll requirements (awards, superannuation, PAYG)
Previous experience in a project, construction, engineering, or rail environment highly regarded
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up or evolving environment
Strong problem-solving skills with a flexible, can-do attitude
High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communicator with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders
Proficiency in MS Office and payroll/accounting systems
