Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll operations for a large workforce of over 5,000 employees. This long-term contract position is based in New York, New York, and offers an opportunity to manage a dynamic team while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll best practices. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in payroll systems and processes, along with a proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes for a workforce exceeding 5,000 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Supervise a team of three permanent staff members and one consultant, providing guidance and support to maintain smooth operations
  • Oversee compliance with payroll regulations, including local tax laws and multi-FEIN requirements
  • Utilize and optimize payroll software systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and HRIS platforms to streamline processes
  • Administer benefits-related payroll tasks, including 401k and RRSP contributions
  • Conduct audits to ensure payroll data integrity and adherence to company policies
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address payroll-related inquiries and provide solutions
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve payroll efficiency and accuracy
  • Handle bi-monthly payroll cycles and ensure timely disbursement of funds
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax compliance requirements and automated payroll processes

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management, preferably handling large employee bases
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now, ADP Smartview, Ceridian, and HRIS platforms
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including local tax regulations and multi-FEINs
  • Experience managing teams, with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with benefits administration, including 401k and RRSP contributions
  • Ability to conduct audits and ensure accuracy in payroll processing
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to address payroll-related challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity
